Bo Ivar Reicke is Professor of the New Testament, University of Basel, Switzerland. The aim of The Anchor Bible is to make the Old and New Testaments accessible to the modern reader: its methods are to arrive at the meaning of the Bible through exact translation and extended exposition, and to reconstruct, as much as possible, the ancient settings of the biblical story.
